Batman -RIP Reviewed Spoiler-free

So, what did I think of this highly touted storyline? Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed by the whole thing.

Breaking down the Batman has kind of already been done and not all that long ago. Remember the story that brought in Sasha Bordeaux(she ended up heading up Checkmate later)? Batman was supposed to be in love with her and his personalities were diverging then too. This one had Batman getting a bit more psychotic (always the case when you start bringing in Bat-Mite whose going "whoa, you are effing wacko!"). However, all this doesn't necessarily make it better. The convoluted feel might be just what Grant was going for in CA-RAZY Batman.

I know they said all the books were tie-ins, but the peripheral books didn't really follow the same BATMAN continuity. I was almost more engaged by the Detective Comics story myself.... Although I highly doubt they'll hold Batman and Catwoman together for long. The angst between the two is the stuff the Batman mythos are born out of.

Oh, and when did Robin become a Bad Ass? I guess they're planning on moving forward with the Red Robin storyline soon...

If Tommy Elliot can survive an explosion in the batcave, Bruce can survive a helicopter crash. If not, it's a lame death for Mr. Wayne. At least give it a big Splash page when it really does happen ;) I'm sure this will lead into more Bat-drama in the next few months, but I'm kind of glad this storyline is over.
